SF Department of Elections Poll Workers
Help your community and earn up to $295 by serving as a poll worker on Election Day!
You can serve as an adult poll worker if you:
Meet all California voter registration requirements*
Can complete online or in-person training
Can serve 6 a.m. until about 10 p.m. on Election Day
*If you meet all requirements except citizenship but are a legal permanent resident, you can still be a poll worker.
You can serve as a high school student poll worker if you:
Will be at least 16 years old on Election Day
Have a grade point average of at least 2.5
Have permission from your parent or guardian
Can complete online or in-person training
Can serve 6 a.m. until about 9 p.m. on Election Day
Benefits to serving as a poll worker:
Stipend between $225 and $295
Experience for your resume or college
Learning about how elections work
Duties of serving as a poll worker:
Help set up your site at 6 a.m.
Help voters between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Help close down your site at 8 p.m.
