Community Artivism: Brazilian Dance

This is a dance and rhythm making class in which focuses on styles such as: Samba Reggae, Samba, and Baile Funk. The purpose of this residency is to introduce students to dance terminology, basic steps, learn how to play basic rhythms, create a piece in a safe and encouraging space, all while learning history of these artforms that are rooted in resistance and artivism.

Classes will include learning and memorizing rhythms, learning and performing choreography, class discussions, creating a movement piece, and learning about the rich history behind these styles.

Students ages 10-18 who register before 2/23 are eligible for a $400 stipend upon the completion of any course
